John Samander

John Samander, a freshman from Curacao, Netherlands, was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week for the second straight week on Monday for his efforts during this past weekend’s Great Northeast Championships.  Samander, who was named on Sunday as the 2008 GNAC Co-Rookie of the Year, posted a perfect 3-0 combined mark in singles and doubles play for the Rams, including a triumph at number three doubles in a 5-2 semi-final victory over Emerson to go with victories at number five singles and number three doubles in Saturday’s 5-4 championship round setback to Johnson & Wales.
