Join Congressional Aide to Congressman James P. McGovern, Gladys Rodriguez-Parker as she speaks about her journey from Puerto Rico to working in politics. Ms. Rodriguez-Parker will also speak about the historic confirmation of Justice Sonia Sotomayor and what it means for the Latino community and for the greater United States.
Since 1997 Gladys Rodriguez-Parker has served on the staff of Congressman Jim McGovern who represents the 3rd Congressional District of Massachusetts. Ms. Rodriguez-Parker was born in Westfield, MA during a migrant season and grew up in San Lorenzo Puerto Rico. In the late 1960’s her parents returned to the mainland upon which time she learned how to speak English while attending school in South Boston. Ms. Rodriguez-Parker has worked hard to provide opportunities to young people and has been a strong community activist throughout her career. She has worked on numerous political campaigns starting at age 14 and most recently worked on the Presidential campaign of President Barack Obama. She has earned numerous awards and serves on a number of boards and commissions.
